DAVID A. MOGHADAM, DMD

Dr. Moghadam completed his undergraduate degree at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, and earned his doctor of dental medicine degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry (UMDNJ). He completed a general practice residency at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ, where he received advanced training with an emphasis on comprehensive restorative treatment, endodontics, and implant dentistry. Dr. Moghadam is an active member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. As a general dentist at College Hill Dental Group, Easton, PA, he continues to attend numerous continuing education courses and believes that furthering his knowledge and expertise is essential to providing his patients with the level of care and respect they deserve.

With endo treatments occupying a sizable space in many general dentistry practices, it’s crucial to find a file system that’s both efficient and safe. Here, Dr. David A. Moghadam explains how SS White's EXACTTaperH DC tapered file system allows him to perform minimally invasive endodontic treatments on 90% of his root canal patients—ensuring predictable, successful outcomes.

For those of us in this field, it’s really all about minimally invasive dentistry. With that in mind, I am always seeking out tools and equipment that encourage conservative restorations, and that’s exactly how I would describe SS White’s EXACTTaperH DC file system.

As a general dentist, I perform anywhere from 10 to 15 root canal treatments every month. I can effectively treat 90% of my root canal cases with the EXACTTaperH DC tapered file system, as it provides me with a conservative path to accessing, shaping, and finishing canals.

The Name Says It All

True to its name, as the “DC” actually stands for “dentin conservation,” EXACTTaperH DC features minimally invasive NiTi files that are anatomically designed and mirror the natural shape of the root, allowing for deep apical and conservative coronal shaping. These files feature a variable taper with a maximum flute diameter of 0.8 mm, which allows for better negotiation of the canal while preserving more pericervical dentin. The smaller tapering in the mid and upper portion of the files also provides more flexibility and better initial access. A proprietary heat annealing process allows for exceptional controlled memory, superior strength, and flexibility.

A Feeling of Flexibility

What’s unusual—and also very beneficial for general dentistry overall—is that there’s a definite flexibility to EXACTTaperH DC. It can withstand a bit more pressure than other files. I’ve noticed that with other systems, if I really push, I start to wonder if I’ve done too much. With EXACTTaperH DC, the files are strong and will get me to where I need to be, yet I have a better sense of knowing when to take a step back vs pushing to the point of file separation.

Comfort & Control

This system reminds me of “training wheels” because I can feel when it’s not navigating correctly. This causes me to step back and irrigate, make sure I have the glide path, and then continue treatment. There’s just more control. It’s a comfortable system in my hands, and if I’m comfortable, I know my patients will be comfortable, too. All of this leads to a better patient experience.

Treating more complex cases can be stressful. EXACTTaperH DC creates for its user a sense of ease, providing the ideal balance of cleaning well and offering safe, efficient cutting—without being overly aggressive.
