A next-generation endodontic file system, EXACTTaperH DC blends strength and flexibility with a minimally invasive design for maximum dentin preservation

Delivering the news that a root canal is needed doesn’t typically send patients jumping for joy. While it’s no walk in the park for the patient, the procedure also can be stressful for clinicians, who must navigate tight and curved canals with the fear of file fracture never far from their minds. One of the most common mishaps during root canal therapy, file breakage can be problematic, especially when it blocks access to the apical root and hinders disinfection.

Choosing a strong and flexible file system is an important way to assuage this fear, and given the right instrument, perhaps even bring some joy back into the procedure. At least that was the case for Todd Sarubin, DDS.

“These files make doing root canals fun again,” he said after taking SS White’s EXACTTaperH DC files for a spin during a DPS product review. Designed to be 58% stronger than the closest comparable file system, EXACTTaperH DC files use a proprietary heat-treating process that creates superior controlled memory and flexibility.

“The files moved easily, even through tight canals with good bendability," added Dr. Sarubin. "I used them on a lower second premolar with 2 canals that started mid-root, and access, shaping, fi t, and fill were all very good. These are typically difficult root canals to complete.”

Minimally Invasive by Design

Designed with multiple tapers that ensure flexibility and cut dentin in specific canal zones, EXACTTaperH DC files use a 0.8-mm maximum flute diameter for ideal pericervical dentin conservation. This limits the potential for over-preparation while allowing clinicians to maintain their existing technique.

“I had a patient present with a maxillary first molar with calcified canals and dilaceration of the root. Typically in these cases, I use extreme caution and abundant lubrication, while taking a lot of time to negotiate the canals,” noted Varo Boyer, DDS, FICOI. “However, after using the EXACTTaperH DC files a few times, I knew that I could confidently negotiate the patterns of these canals and not be afraid of file breakage and separation. The strength and flexibility of these files shine."
