Recognizing that traditional electric handpieces can be cumbersome to use, NSK developed the nano series of electric handpieces, which are approximately 10% smaller and lighter than conventional models and offer a comfortable experience for clinicians without sacrificing performance.

The nano95LS is ideal for clinicians with small hands who want the benefits of an electric handpiece—like continuous speed and versatility—without the extra weight of traditional handpieces. After evaluating the nano95LS for DPS, Dr. Sylvia Irwin proclaimed, “The handpiece has great torque and is small, well-balanced, and lightweight. What more could I ask for?” Dr. Robin Henderson, another DPS evaluator, declared, “This is the most balanced and comfortable electric handpiece I have ever used in nearly 20 years of electric handpiece use.”

Bigger Isn’t Always Better

The nano95LS features a small head and slim neck—dimensions that enable the clinician to work in small spaces while maintaining good visibility. “I loved the size. It had a nice small head, which was great in the posterior, and fit in tight places better,” confided Dr. Melissa Zettler.

With a maximum speed of 200,000 rpm, the nano95LS provides enough torque for a wide range of restorative procedures. “Electric handpieces are really evolving, and the NSK nano is a fine example of the newer technology that enables the fabrication of a small, light unit with exceptional torque,” Dr. Irwin said. The nano95LS electric handpiece is compatible with NSK’s NLZ and NLX nano electric motors.

Small Footprint, Maximum Power

Pairing perfectly with the nano95LS handpiece, the NLZ electric micromotor system is a compact yet powerful unit that expands the possibilities of dental treatment. Created to ease the transition for clinicians converting from air to electric handpieces, the NLZ’s space-saving design and versatility allow it to be mounted and installed in dental units of all shapes, sizes, and styles.

Featuring 4.2 Ncm of torque in general mode, the NLZ can be used for a diverse range of high- and low-speed treatments. “The torque of the small head seemed as much if not more than the others, and it was easy to cut through metal and lithium disilicate,” Dr. Alan Howard told DPS. Dr. Stephen Gordon added, “The multiple speed presets make going from a preparation 1:5 gear handpiece to a polishing latch angle handpiece a breeze.”
