Meet the Perfect ‘Mate’
Two compact and lightweight endodontic motors with torque control and auto-reverse encourage safe and efficient root canal treatment
Just as the first mate aboard a ship is second in command to the boat’s captain, responsible for the safety and well-being of the vessel and its crew, NSK’s Endo-Mate endodontic motors expertly follow the lead of their own captain—the dentist or endodontist who has carefully diagnosed the patient and mapped out the appropriate treatment plan.
“NSK quality is among the highest in the world,” said Dr. Richard Mounce, an endodontist who has lectured globally on root canal treatment. This is one reason why he uses both the Endo-Mate DT and Endo-Mate TC2 during his endodontic procedures.
Capable of memorizing the exact speed and torque settings for up to 9 NiTi files from all major suppliers, NSK’s Endo-Mate DT corded endodontic motor has 3 working modes—auto-reverse on, auto-stop, and auto-reverse off—and automatically reacts when the load reaches the desired torque. A cord-free option, the Endo-Mate TC2 handpiece has a slim head and neck, along with a simple 5-key operation.
“I’ve used both of these models throughout my career, as each provides an economical yet highly reliable option for powering NiTi shaping instruments,” said Dr. Mounce. “Both have presets for torque, speed, and auto-reverse for using fi les from different manufacturers, which saves time when moving between different fi le systems in a hybrid shaping technique.”
Smoother Treatment
While patients generally don’t take note of the equipment being used during their root canal procedure, they do tend to notice if an instrument isn’t working properly or needs frequent tweaking during treatment. “If the procedure flows smoothly, as it tends to with the Endo-Mate DT and TC2, it adds to the reputation of the doctor, as well as the satisfaction of the patient,” shared Dr. Mounce. "These motors are very safe and reliable."
