Dr. Mouhannad Almajdalani relies on NSK's Ti-Max Z99L for demanding cases where cutting power can't come at the cost of control

At first glance, NSK's Ti-Max Z99L certainly makes a good impression—thanks to a sleek DURAGRIP coating that resists scratches and boosts durability. But does its performance match? For Dr. Mouhannad Almajdalani, it does.

“I fi nd myself reaching for the Ti-Max Z99L most often for larger and more demanding cases,” he explained. “It cuts through crowns with surprising ease, but at the same time, I still have excellent control when doing more precise preparations.”

Cuts Without Compromise

After trying the contra-angle for a DPS product review last year, Dr. Almajdalani said it has earned a solid place in his daily workflow.

“One of the biggest differences for me is the combination of torque, stability, and precision,” he continued. “I don’t feel like I’m sacrificing accuracy for cutting power, which has made procedures easier and more efficient for me.”

NSK handpieces feature a 2-way water function, which allows users to switch between jet and mist irrigation with the flip of a switch.

“I use the 2-way water function quite frequently, and I’ve found that each setting has a very practical purpose,” Dr. Almajdalani explained. “When I’m cutting through an old crown, there can be significant heat and friction, so having the appropriate water flow for effective cooling is extremely useful. On the other hand, when I’m preparing a crown or working on something more delicate, I really appreciate being able to use the mist. It provides cooling while still allowing good visibility of the preparation and margins.”

Makes Difficult Preps Easy

Dr. Almajdalani finds the Z99L quite comfortable to hold, especially during longer procedures, and he appreciates the angle of the head.

“The head design makes a significant difference when accessing posterior teeth. With some other handpieces, the body or 'belly' of the handpiece can contact the opposing or adjacent teeth and limit your access. The 100° angled head of the Z99L gives me more room to position the bur where I need it, which has made difficult posterior preparations much easier and more comfortable.”

After months of use, the Z99L has not only held up to Dr. Almajdalani's initial impressions—it has become his handpiece of choice.

“I would highly recommend the Z99L to other practitioners looking for a handpiece that provides both performance and comfort in daily clinical use,” he concluded.
