Equipment Designed with Your Best Interest in Mind

Two of Planmeca’s DPS Best Products allow dental teams to offer more high-quality dentistry in-house while creating exceptional value for their patients

Dental professionals are always searching for the best of planmeca cad/camsomething—whether it’s the best bonding agent, the best handpiece, the best digital impression system, or perhaps most importantly, the best way to get more new patients in the chair. Sometimes, separating the best products from the rest can feel like finding a needle in a haystack. Other times, it’s as simple as listening to what your peers have to say.

Case in point is Planmeca’s ever-growing portfolio of CAD/CAM and imaging solutions—including the Planmeca FIT system for same-day restorations and the Planmeca Viso imaging family, both of which were recently deemed DPSBest Products.

The Perfect FIT for Consistency & Control

While Planmeca FIT—a full CAD/CAM system consisting of the Planmeca Emerald S intraoral scanner, Planmeca PlanMill 30 S, and Planmeca PlanCAD Easy software—is designed to provide dental teams with a streamlined yet easy-to-adopt digital restorative workflow, it’s also allowed clinicians like Dr. Don Murry III to keep his patients’ best interests top of mind.“Before using Planmeca FIT, we had a lack of control and consistency with our fixed ceramic restorations and noticed that the quality of our lab-fabricated full-coverage zirconia restorations was declining,” shared Dr. Murry, who has been in multilocation private practice for over a decade. “We felt an obligation to our patients to give them the best quality restoration possible.”Now, each of his Virginia offices is equipped with a Planmeca FIT system, which allows Dr. Murry and his associate dentists to control every step of the process for the patient—from completing restorations in one visit, simplifying the workflow, and adding efficiency and profitability to partial and full-coverage ceramic cases.“From ceramic onlays delivered in under an hour to in-office milled implant custom restorations, Planmeca FIT has opened up an incredible digital landscape. For example, we evolved from a volume-based, single-unit practice to one where we can see fewer patients but do more high-quality dentistry for them,” he added.

Putting a Premium on Image Quality

In creating its newest flagship CBCT system, Planmeca expertly fused premium image quality with high-end usability. The result was the Planmeca Viso product family, which is comprised of 2 CBCT units: the Planmeca Viso G5 supports volume sizes from 3 × 3 to 20 × 17 cm, while the Planmeca Viso G7 can be adjusted freely between 3 × 3 and 30 × 30 cm.

“Planmeca Viso is absolutely a must-have for better treatment planning and outcomes,” noted DPS evaluator Dr. Sarwandeep Bath. Some key features that Dr. Bath has found particularly helpful since adopting the imaging unit include the Planmeca CALM movement correction algorithm and live virtual FOV positioning, both of which help his team reduce the number of retakes. He also appreciates Planmeca Ultra Low Dose radiation, which captures 3D images at significantly lower effective patient doses without a statistical reduction in image quality.

Additionally, improved Planmeca ProFace facial photos offer a unique way to produce a realistic 3D face photo and a CBCT image with a single scan. This aids in pre-and postoperative treatment planning, as well as creates a photorealistic image that gets patients excited and motivated about treatment.

“With Planmeca Viso, I am able to truly visualize my patients’ true anatomy with low-dose radiation in a single pass of the machine, so I can capture these details on even my youngest patients,” shared Dr. Drew McDonald. “It has allowed me to diagnose patients at a higher level than ever and created a new value for them.”

Setting Practices Up for Success

No piece of dental equipment can be fully successful unless it’s backed by the training and support needed for dental teams to get the most out of their investment. Luckily, Planmeca has no shortage of either—including hands-on and online courses in CAD/CAM, 2D and 3D imaging, and advanced topics, such as 3D guided implant surgery.
