Estelite Sigma Quick

The universal resin composite’s unique formula and flexible shade-matching ability make it a stand-out among restorative materials.

A renowned artist once observed that “no one is immune to human contact, and art is not made in a vacuum.” The same can be said of the art of dentistry, because a product is only as effective as its trial with human contact—the clinician-to-patient experience. After nearly a decade on the market, Tokuyama’s Estelite Sigma Quick, a universal resin composite, continues to be a go-to, award-winning product.

In 2008, Tokuyama introduced Estelite Sigma Quick as the next generation of Estelite Sigma. The newly formulated universal, supra-nano filled restorative material was touted for its extended working time (90 seconds) and rapid curing time (10 seconds), and offered in 3 additional shades (for 20 shades total) that provide excellent esthetics. Estelite Sigma Quick is indicated for anterior and posterior restorations, composite veneers, diastema closure, and composite/porcelain repair.

Dentists responded positively to Estelite Sigma Quick, which earned a “Best Product” rating in a Dental Product Shopper evaluation. The material’s color stability (after light-curing) was the highest rated feature, achieving a score of 4.7 out of 5.0. As one evaluator stated somewhat ironically, the material’s chameleon effect—its ability to blend in—“is where Estelite really stands out.” Another evaluator said, “Patients thought the results were amazing.”

From testimonials to clinical studies, much has been documented about the effectiveness of Estelite Sigma Quick in the 7 years since the DPS evaluation. Featured case study author Dr. Todd Snyder documented a “miracle-match blend” after using Estelite Sigma Quick on an interproximal cavity on the distal of tooth No. 28.

Sharing his thoughts on the effectiveness of the material, Dr. Snyder summarized, “As a healthcare provider dealing with various forms of tooth pathology, you often need to have many different types of materials at your disposal…The tooth pathology you treat can be restored in many ways with the overall goal of being the same: creating a restoration that has long-term durability to restore the diseased tooth structure, but having the immediate gratification—for both the patient and dentist alike—of looking like the existing tooth structure while easily blending into the surroundings.”
