Why I Use... Admira Fusion
All ceramic-based universal restorative material offers ideal handling and simple, high-luster polishing for esthetic results.
Finding a restorative material that not only works well in a variety of clinical scenarios, but creates durable and esthetic results, can require a bit of trial and error. That was certainly the case for California clinician Dr. Robert Milner—that is, until he discovered VOCO's Admira Fusion. Featuring innovative Nano- ORMOCER technology, Admira Fusion is an all ceramic based and versatile material that can be used in both anterior and posterior regions. Here, Dr. Milner shares the key features that make Admira Fusion unique and why he chooses it to restore his patients' smiles on a regular basis.
Robert A. Milner, DDS
Dr. Milner received his DDS degree from the Marquette University School of Dentistry in Wisconsin. After completing a 24-month associateship in Moreno Valley and San Diego, CA, he established his private practice in Mission Viejo in 1991. Dr. Milner is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the American Academy of Oral Medicine, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
In my busy restorative practice, I strive to work with materials that can decrease my procedure times and keep the process of organizing inventory simple for my staff. Universal restorative materials have helped me accomplish this, and after 5 years of trying different types and brands, I’ve found that VOCO's Admira Fusion checks off all of my boxes: ideal shade matching, marginal adaptability, and durability—to name just a few.
Free of classic monomers that might compromise the bond, Admira Fusion features Nano-ORMOCER (ORganically MOdifi ed CERamic) technology, which reduces marginal breakdown and color change due to staining. The Nano- ORMOCER technology reduces shrinkage and shrinkage stress by up to 50% compared to composite materials and is 84% filled for high wear resistance.
One of my favorite features of Admira Fusion is that the material does not stick to instruments during placement, unlike the traditional composite materials I've used. It also has a highly polishable surface, which is fantastic on anterior teeth, and provides great color stability and the perfect balance of translucency and opacity for natural-looking restorations.
Case Success
Admira Fusion is indicated for all classes of cavities, and I have used it when restoring molar, anterior, and primary teeth. In one particular case, the patient presented with numerous, multi-surface caries in both the anterior and posterior regions. Because I chose to restore the patient with Admira Fusion, I was able to use a single material for all restorations—saving myself and the patient chair time, while achieving esthetic, structurally sound restorations that will last for years.
