Why I Use: Admira Fusion x-tra
Innovative single-shade, nano-ORMOCER restorative
|
In clinical practice for nearly 20 years, Christopher Sortman, DDS, of Community Shores Dental in Norton Shores, MI, says he’s always been impressed with VOCO’s attention to detail and products with chemical compositions on the cutting edge of technology. Here, he discusses why VOCO’s Admira Fusion x-tra always tops his list of go-to materials for anterior and posterior restorations.
When I first began practicing dentistry, I spent a lot of time and effort on layering and shade matching. Remember— that's what we were taught in dental school! In the years since, I’ve witnessed several generations of composites, each one improving upon those that came before. But there has never been anything like the Admira Fusion x-tra. Based on the groundbreaking all-ceramic-based nano-ORMOCER technology of VOCO's Admira Fusion, which set a new standard in material science, Admira Fusion x-tra reduces variables and simplifies my armamentarium.
It’s my choice for non-critical anterior and Class I, II, and V posterior composites. Why? No shade matching! Admira Fusion x-tra covers multiple shades with just one omni-chromatic shade. With its chameleon effect, it allows light to refract with the composite to the point where I see just one surface, instead of seeing a tooth and then a single color of composite.
I’ve had to make sure my patients aren’t biting into flash because it’s impossible to tell where the composite stops and the tooth begins. When I give patients a mirror to see what I’ve done, they say, “Where is it?” and I’ll say, “Exactly.” It’s that good!
Admira Fusion x-tra has superior handling characteristics. It wears and blends well, doesn’t stick on the instruments, and flows easily into the nooks and crannies of the cavities. It’s not stiff yet it doesn’t slump. Bioceramic, BPA-FreeAdmira Fusion x-tra is bioceramic, 100% BPA-free, and contains no classic monomers. It’s also 84% filled by weight, so it’s wear resistant with a low initial shrinkage of 1.25% for long-lasting restorations. Low shrinkage reduces postoperative sensitivity, because there’s less force yanking the tooth as it cures, which means a less-stressful procedure for dentists and a more successful recovery for patients.

Admira Fusion x-tra
VOCO presents Admira Fusion x-tra, the first single-shade omnichromatic nano-ORMOCER restorative material. Because of its unique composition, Admira Fusion x-tra can match the shade of the surrounding tooth structure, improving the speed and simplicity of the restorative procedure. Not only does this save time, it saves dental offices from having to buy multiple shades and then throw away unused or unpopular shades when they expire. Admira Fusion x-tra’s low water solubility of less than 0.1 ?g/mm3 means that restorations keep their luster, shine, and shade for longer, because they are much slower to absorb liquids such as coffee, wine, and tea more slowly.
