Rarely can a root canal procedure be deemed “easy” or “predictable.” In fact, when it comes to dental services, endodontic treatment is among those that often present the most challenges. So, it’s always a good thing when instruments perform well because, while clinicians may not be able to predict the challenges ahead, having strong yet flexible files can go a long way toward achieving successful outcomes.

 

It's for this reason that New Yorker Smiles owner Tony Wu, DDS, FAGD, reaches for SS White’s EXACTTaperH DC files several times a week, and why he's been using the rotary file system in his busy Manhattan dental practice for almost 3 years.

 

“It’s a very simple system,” Dr. Wu shared. “The files are color-coded, so it’s easy to follow the sequence. Besides that, they are extremely flexible and bendable when compared to other NiTi files I have tried in the past.”

 

Minimally Invasive by Design

 

EXACTTaperH DC takes the goal of minimally invasive dentistry to the next level with the system’s “DC,” a shorthand for “dentin conservation.” A unique NiTi system, EXACTTaperH DC fi les reduce the potential for over-preparation, preserve tooth structure, and shape the canal to a depth of 20 mm. The anatomical design allows for deep apical and conservative coronal shaping while maintaining the tooth’s structural integrity and reducing the probability of root fracture. Dr. Wu believes the file system truly lives up to these claims.

 

“This system features a nonaggressive taper that is also strong," he said. "In addition, it allows me to conserve more coronal tooth structure, as well as up to 1/3 of the root structure."

 

Strength Meets Flexibility

 

Featuring a 0.8-mm maximum flute diameter for ideal pericervical dentin conservation, as well as superior canal negotiation, EXACTTaperH DC is made with a proprietary heat-annealing process that offers exceptional controlled memory, strength, and flexibility.

 

Additionally, the variable taper files permit stress-free navigation of curves up to 90° while resisting cyclic fatigue.

 

“When shaping upper molar MB1 and MB2 canals, this system makes the process easier and allows me to work with more confidence," he added. "These are great, flexible files that navigate very well, and I can use them confidently in tight, curvy canals."
